Unexpected vacation??

Well...the details of me quitting...I was extremely nervous so I just waited until like 3:30 yesterday to tell Jennifer, the HR director. I would have told Walter, the owner, who is who I report to, but he is out of town for like 4 weeks. So anyways, I just told her that I am leaving at the beginning of July to start training to be a missionary in the DR for 2 years and my last day would be June 20 (2 weeks from Fri). She was really really surprised, but was really nice about it and kept saying she was really happy for me. She said that Walter would be in for a hour the next morning (today) if I wanted to try to catch him.

So today Walter didn't end up coming in so Jennifer talked to him and told him everything. Then at like 9:00 this morning she said she wanted to talk to me and she told me that they weren't going to accept my 2 weeks notice and that today would be my last day. It wasn't like a firing, I think that's a pretty common thing for businesses to do. But I was still pretty shocked/disapointed. She re-iterated that things were ending on good terms and that it wasn't anything to do with my performance.

So it kind of sucks, but if you think about it from their point of view, they would be paying me for 3 weeks of work where I would either not be doing much or starting things that I wouldn't be able to finish. I had almost 50 hours of vacation time saved up, so they are going to pay me for this week and part of next week. So that it really good, but we're still out over $1,000.

So though there are obvious dowsides of this situation, in a lot of ways I think this will be good. I will have more time to relax, prepare for leaving, meet with possible donors, etc. And those of you still in Harrisonburg- more time to hang out!!

So if you think about it, please pray for my heart and my ability to adjust to yet another change....

Caroline
